Physicians Formula Bronze Booster

Its a fun and sunshiny Friday and I wanna share my review for my recent purchase on eBay Philippines,

Its Physicians Formula's Bronze Booster Compact Powder.

Taking a break from my usual makeup staples, Ive started exploring the beauty of bronzers after I discovered how Smashbox' Halo Glow Color Boosting Powder made my skin look more lively and radiant.

I wasnt really looking for a bronzer when I was browsing eBay, I was just actually killing time, waiting til my eyes get tired before I hit the sack when I came across this item. It was on sale so I felt the urge to buy it rightaway.

The compact comes in a classic Physicians Formula Box. The compact looks classy and expensive in my opinion. It sorta reminds me of Guerlain Terracotta bronzers.

The compact is made of deep amber-colored acrylic, looks rather plain  at first glance but when you look at the compact from a different angle, youd see the little sun peeking from the semi-see thru case.

Just like all the other powder products of Physicians Formula, this Compact Bronzer comes in a dual layer case, 1st layer has the bronzing powder and the mirror, and the powder pan flips to reveal a brush compartment with air vents to keep the brush dry.

And because I love Smashbox Halo Glow, I was surprised to see that this is indeed light considering its a bronzer, Im really glad i chose the Light to Medium Variant. From the pan, the shade looks pretty much friendly to be used all over the face for a hint of color and a little boost of glow.

The formula is shimmer-free (I love!) and it doesnt have hints of orangey hues at all.

Im glad that they stayed true to their claims here :

The Swatches :

Light to Medium Shade blends seamlessly on my NC25 skintone, no orange hues, no shimmer, but it does a great job in adding a pop of glow to my complexion.

The powder is finely milled and feels silky when applied, this even feels silkier than my Guerlain powders. And speaking of Guerlain, this powder, in my opinion is the best dupe for Guerlain Illuminating Perfecting Pressed Powder in Beige Lumineux.

Theres absolutely nothing to hate about the consistency and the color of this powder. It doesnt even oxidize which is great too, considering our weather is really humid at this time of the year.

This would also be great for touch-ups since the color wouldnt change the shade of your foundie, it also makes the skin look glowing matte, I dunno how to describe it but it makes you look less oily but it makes your skin look dewy at the same time.

INGREDIENTS: TALC, MICA, NYLON-12, ZINC STEARATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIMETHICONE, DIISOSTEARYL MALATE, OCTYLDODECYL STEAROYL STEARATE, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, INOSITOL, LAUROYL LYSINE, MACUNA PRURIENS SEED EXTRACT, MALTODEXTRIN, PHOSPHOLIPIDS, SILICA, SORBIC ACID, SORBITAN SESQUIOLEATE, ASCORBIC ACID, TOCOPHEROL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, MAY CONTAIN: IRON OXIDES, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, ULTRAMARINES.

From the Physicians Formula Website :

  • May be worn alone or over makeup.
  • Lightly brush powder over face and neck for a natural-looking tan glow.
  • To accentuate and contour, apply more over cheekbones.
  • For the most even application, be sure to tap excess powder from brush before applying.

I use it as my finishing/setting powder, I can get away with no retouching and no oil blotting up to 8 hours (Im loving my day moisturizer as it keeps my oilies at bay *S&G ClearHere*). For everyone else, I would say you can use a light dusting of this powder after you blot.

Skin absolutely loves it! :)

Im getting a back-up for this, so, YES! Its definitely backup worthy.

Since its a powder product, the shelf life would be around 12-24 months with proper makeup hygiene.

Sells for $14.95 in the States, but I got mine for Php 375.00 ($8.00)

Target Walk-In Stores (U.S)
and all other leading Pharmacies in the States/Canada.

Overall, Its a great product thats rave-worthy considering its something from a drugstore brand.

Have you tried this powder? What can you say about it?

Happy Weekend Everyone! <3 <3 <3

  1. Great review sis! I'm also on a lookout for a great and inexpensive bronzer. I was thinking of getting the Elf studio duo blush and bronze but a lot of review says that it's murky or looks dirty. I think I'll give this a try. btw, does this look okay in outdoor or natural light? ;)

  2. @Lil Ole Moi : Regarding the ELF Duo, the blush looks nice, but the bronzer is muddy on me. didnt like it. For the Bronze Booster powder, yes! It looks nice even under natural light, it doesnt actually look like a bronzer to me (for light application), would prolly do a light contouring job if you layer it perhaps.
